C5 New 6-Speed Manual Transmission CAGS Skip Shift Eliminator 1997-2004

C5 Corvette CAGS Skip Shift Eliminator (1997–2004) — 6-Speed Manual

Fits: All 1997–2004 C5 Corvettes with a 6-speed manual transmission
Part #: CAGS-SKIP

The factory CAGS (Computer Aided Gear Selection) system can force a 1-to-4 shift under certain light-throttle conditions and illuminate the 1–4 shift light—often when you need 2nd gear the most. CAGS-SKIP removes the forced shift lockout so you can shift normally again.

What it does

• Disables the skip-shift lockout so you can shift 1–2, 1–3, or 1–4 whenever you want
• Can disable the instrument panel 1–4 shift light (optional)
• Designed to work without triggering error codes

Why CAGS-SKIP

• Under-hood installation—no lifting the car and no crawling under the transmission
• Reliable signal substitution so the PCM thinks everything is normal
• No permanent modifications required to eliminate the skip-shift solenoid function

How it works

CAGS-SKIP disconnects the PCM from the skip-shift solenoid and the 1–4 shift light circuit, then safely substitutes the signals needed to prevent trouble codes. Your Corvette thinks nothing has changed, but you’ll never see or feel the factory CAGS system again.

Install overview (3 under-hood connections)

1. A fused connection to the positive post on the underhood fuse panel
2. A terminal that replaces an OEM terminal in a connector to disable the skip-shift solenoid
3. One CAGS-SKIP wire connected beneath the underhood fuse panel for the 1–4 shift light (optional)

Connections 1 & 2 remove the forced 1–4 shift lockout and make no permanent modifications.

Optional: disable the 1–4 shift light

The 1–4 shift light defeat (Connection 3) is optional and can be done in two ways:

• Quick method: cut one wire
• No-cut method: replace a fuse panel terminal (takes a little longer)

The included photo instructions identify the correct wire. On 1997–2004 C5 Corvettes, this wire is used only for the 1–4 shift light, so disabling it will not affect other vehicle systems. You can do this step right away, later, or never, it’s completely safe to install CAGS-SKIP to disable only the skip-shift lockout.

Already have a transmission-mounted eliminator?

No problem, CAGS-SKIP can be installed only to disable the 1–4 shift light. If you already have a transmission-mounted skip-shift eliminator, simply follow the included instructions for the light-disable step.

Most other eliminators mount on the transmission (under the car) and do not stop the 1–4 light. CAGS-SKIP is the under-hood solution that can do both, no lifting required.
